Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups buttermilk (you can make your own by combining 2 cups of milk with 2 tablespoons of vinegar or lemon juice)
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9×5-inch loaf pans.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the 2/3 cup sugar and 3 teaspoons of cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, 2 cups of sugar, and eggs until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, flour, and baking soda until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, mixing until smooth and well incorporated.
  6. Pour half of the batter evenly into the prepared loaf pans.
  7. Sprinkle a generous layer of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the batter in each pan.
  8. Pour the remaining batter over the cinnamon sugar layer, dividing it evenly between the two pans.
  9. Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture over the top of the batter in each pan.
  10. Use a knife to gently swirl the cinnamon sugar mixture into the batter, creating a marbled effect.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  12. Allow the bread to cool in the pans on a wire rack for 20 minutes before removing from the pans.
  13. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy your delicious homemade Amish Cinnamon Sugar Swirl Bread
