Doritos-Crusted Chicken Tenders
Ingredients:
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 large egg
- 2 cups Doritos (any flavor), crushed
- Cooking spray (for air frying)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Chicken:
- Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C).
- Cut the chicken breasts into long, thin strips, creating chicken tenders.
- Crush the Doritos:
- Place the Doritos in a plastic bag and crush them into small pieces. You can use a rolling pin or the bottom of a heavy pan to crush them effectively.
- Coat the Chicken:
- In a shallow dish, whisk the egg until well beaten.
- Dip each chicken tender into the beaten egg, ensuring it’s fully coated.
- Doritos Coating:
- Roll the egg-coated chicken tenders in the crushed Doritos, pressing gently to make sure the Doritos adhere to the chicken.
- Air Fry:
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Place the coated chicken tenders in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them to allow for proper air circulation.
- Cooking:
- Air fry the chicken tenders at 380°F for 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes, flip the chicken tenders using tongs.
- Continue air frying for an additional 4-5 minutes or until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve:
- Once the chicken tenders are cooked, remove them from the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes.
- Serve the Doritos-crusted chicken tenders with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch, barbecue, or salsa.
Optional Tips:
- Experiment with different Doritos flavors to add variety to the coating.
- Serve with a side of vegetables, a salad, or your child’s favorite sides for a complete meal.
- Encourage your kids to get involved in the preparation process by helping crush the Doritos or coating the chicken tenders.
