My husband and I are huge fans of the Sausage/Egg/Cheese McMuffins from McDonald’s. One sandwich from there is almost 4 dollars, so we decided to make our own to save money!
Homemade Sausage, Egg, and Cheese McMuffins
Ingredients:
- English Muffins (6ct) – $1.48
- Eggs (18ct) – $3.99
- Cheese Slices (24ct) – $2.48
- Sausage Patties (36ct) – $8.36
Total Cost: $16.31 Cost per Sandwich: $0.79
Instructions:
- Cook the Sausage Patties:
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Cook the sausage patties for about 4-5 minutes per side or until fully cooked and browned.
- Once cooked, set aside.
- Prepare the Eggs:
- Crack the eggs into a bowl and whisk them until well combined.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat.
- Pour the whisked eggs into a circular silicone egg ring for a perfect shape (Joie brand recommended).
- Cook the eggs for 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are fully cooked but still moist.
- Remove the eggs from the ring and set aside.
- Assemble the Sandwiches:
- Slice the English muffins in half and lightly toast them.
- Place a cooked sausage patty on the bottom half of each English muffin.
- Add a slice of cheese on top of the sausage.
- Add the Egg:
- Place a cooked egg on top of the cheese.
- Complete the Sandwich:
- Top each sandwich with the other half of the English muffin.
- Serve and Enjoy:
- Serve these delicious homemade McMuffins immediately while they’re warm and the cheese is melty.
- Storage and Reheating:
- Store any leftover sandwiches in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- To reheat, wrap the sandwich in a damp paper towel and microwave for 30-45 seconds.
