Spaghetti-Stuffed Garlic Bread Subs
Ingredients:
1 loaf Italian bread (16 oz)
Butter and garlic powder for bread
1 lb ground beef
1 lb ground sausage
16 oz tomato sauce
6 oz tomato paste
1 medium onion, diced
7 oz uncooked spaghetti
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, divided
2/3 cup Mozzarella cheese, divided
1 generous tablespoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon salt, plus a pinch
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F.
Cook the spaghetti in a large saucepan until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, brown the beef and sausage over medium heat. Add the diced onion while browning the meat. Once browned, drain any excess fat and return to the skillet.
Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, minced garlic, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Mix well and let it simmer for 5-8 minutes. Stir in the cooked pasta and remove from heat.
While the meat sauce is simmering, slice the Italian bread loaf in half using a bread knife. Hollow out the center of each half, removing any excess bread to create a cavity in each piece. Brush the insides and edges of the bread halves with butter and sprinkle with garlic powder. Toast in the preheated oven.
Fill each toasted bread cavity with the spaghetti and meat sauce mixture (you may have some leftovers). Top the filled bread halves with the divided Parmesan and Mozzarella cheeses.
Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and golden. Remove from the oven, let it cool slightly, and then cut into portions using a bread knife. Serve and enjoy!
