Amish Cinnamon Sugar Swirl Bread
Ingredients:
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups buttermilk (you can make your own by combining 2 cups of milk with 2 tablespoons of vinegar or lemon juice)
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9×5-inch loaf pans.
- In a small bowl, mix together the 2/3 cup sugar and 3 teaspoons of cinnamon. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, 2 cups of sugar, and eggs until smooth.
- In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, flour, and baking soda until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, mixing until smooth and well incorporated.
- Pour half of the batter evenly into the prepared loaf pans.
- Sprinkle a generous layer of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the batter in each pan.
- Pour the remaining batter over the cinnamon sugar layer, dividing it evenly between the two pans.
- Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture over the top of the batter in each pan.
- Use a knife to gently swirl the cinnamon sugar mixture into the batter, creating a marbled effect.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pans on a wire rack for 20 minutes before removing from the pans.
