Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups pancake mix (just add water mix recommended)
- 3/4 cups water
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oil:
- Fill a pan with vegetable oil, about 2 inches deep, and preheat it to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the Batter:
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together pancake mix, water, vanilla extract, and sugar until well combined. The batter will be thick.
- Frying the Bites:
- Once the oil is preheated, use a tablespoon to drop portions of the batter into the hot oil. Be cautious not to overcrowd the pan to ensure even cooking.
- Fry Until Golden Brown:
- Fry the bites for a couple of minutes on each side or until they turn golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to flip them for even cooking.
- Drain Excess Oil:
- Remove the fried bites from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels. This will help absorb any excess oil.
- Powdered Sugar Coating:
- While the bites are still warm, generously sprinkle powdered sugar over them. Toss the bites gently to coat them evenly.
- Serve and Enjoy:
- Arrange the funnel cake bites or donut holes on a serving plate. They are best enjoyed warm. You can serve them with a side of chocolate or caramel sauce for dipping if desired.
Notes:
- Customization: Feel free to get creative with toppings. You can add cinnamon to the powdered sugar, drizzle with chocolate or caramel sauce, or even dip them in a glaze for added flavor.
- Dipping Sauces: Serve with a variety of dipping sauces like chocolate ganache, strawberry sauce, or maple syrup for extra indulgence.
- Storage: These bites are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for a day. Reheat them in the oven for a few minutes to regain crispiness if needed.
